Messy & unfiltered, the collection of work below is the culmanation of design work & evolution of my process from being a student to how it influenced my current design practice. Projects stem from a variety of design processes, from print, motion, web, creative coding, screen printing, & 3d design. While some projects may appear abstract, this was my journey in researching & learning the tools to create impactful design strategies. Researched past interfaces dating back to the 1960’s and how technology that exists today is simply an extension to defined studies from the past, ideas such as VR, Robot companions, & AI have existed for decades.
How these interfaces affect us socially, politically, phsyically, & visually. Explored what a future interface might look like, creating a prototype hologram display, and created a risographed zine that served as a glossary to understand inferace evolution through time. As well as creating a screen printed poster alongside the website that contains the manifesto & additional patents.

A team of MICA graduate and undergraduate students work in collaboration with outside partners and address complex social problems. We came to this final solution creating this identity with multiple ideas that was pitched to the Baltimore City Health Department to suggest all clinics and hospitals to implement this strategy to foster a more supportive healthcare environment.

Large Scale Battery Recycling

“The battery market’s compound annual growth rate is forecast to be 35.8% between 2016 and 2025, while energy capacity is expected to grow from 1.4 GWh to 42.7 GWh in the same time frame.”6 Companies such as Toronto Hydro invested $2.9 billion to renew the distribution grid between 2006 and 2015, in addition to another $2 billion to improve reliability and generate growth between 2015 to 2019. 2 These resources are allocated to relieve more than a third of the infrastructure that will expire by 2020 originally installed in the 1950’s. 2 As these old foundations near their lifespan, the transition to lithium-ion energy storage batteries have taken place. As the technology matures and customers look to replace and upgrade older batteries, large-volume customers, will need a simple disposal solution. Thus, a point of entry exists for a company seeking to apply industry-standard recycling practices to these retired grid-scale batteries, the largest to ever exist commercially.
We hope to apply similar revenue positive models to those employed by the EV battery recyclers of today to service the needs of the grid-scale battery customers of tomorrow, creating value both in the physical removal of unusable batteries from their properties to make room for new installation and through the repurposing and resale of materials and components.

Globally, about one-third of food is wasted which equates to roughly 1.6 billion tons of produce a year, with a potential value of about $1 trillion.1 The U.S. is the lead contributor to food waste with around 50 percent of all produce thrown away—some 60 million tons or $160 billion worth of produce annually.”2 The problem isn’t sourced in one area, but stems from several issues within the growth and distribution of produce.
Understanding that waste occurs throughout the supply chain, nearly 85% occurs at consumer-facing businesses and homes. In 2010, consumer based waste was estimated at 133 billion pounds of food from stores, restaurants and homes, according to the USDA.

The beginning & end of my personal branding, creating a journey that would make the site more personable & offer a glimpse behind the scenes. After plenty of iterations, the idea eventually was scraped after inaccessibility & trying to maintain the code. I.e background video was interactive, able to click and go to the pages but was impossible to make mobile friendly. The navigation was the rotating sphere, an interactive planet of type. Clicking different points in the room would reveal different projects. The pool offered a play side, and connected to the about section. Initially the home office was to reflect the Alpheraz Studio aspect business/clients, while the pool would be symbolic of my personal design projects i.e research/ art school, this website.
